212 Immigration candidates invited in the latest MPNP draw

“Friendly Manitoba” organised another round of invites to apply for a provincial candidacy for permanent residency on September 10, welcoming 212 immigration applicants.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) welcomed skilled workers and graduates of foreign students across three sources of immigration: Manitoba’s skilled workers, Overseas skilled workers, and sources of international education. The invites, also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), were issued as follows, along with the score criteria for their respective Expression of Interest (EOI):

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba— 168 LAAs with a minimum score of at least 475;
  • Skilled Workers Overseas— 9 LAAs with a minimum score of at least 824; and
  • International Education Stream— 35 LAAs, no EOI score requirement.

So far in 2020, the province has released 3,511 LAAs for immigration applicants in those categories. That was the 98th draw by Manitoba since the programme started in April 2014.

Express Entry

Among the LAAs given in the September 10 draw, 22 in the federal Express Entry scheme went to candidates with a valid profile.

Candidates eligible for the Express Entry pool are classified based on a Comprehensive Ranking System – CRS score that incorporates human capital considerations such as age, work experience, education, and language skills into consideration.

Highest-scoring applicants are selected by frequent draws from the Express Entry pool to qualify for Canadian permanent residency.

A further 600 CRS points are awarded to those who obtain a provincial nomination, and an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration , Refugees, and Citizenship Canada is essentially assured.

Express Entry candidates who obtained a Manitoba provincial nomination on this draw proclaimed a valid Express Entry ID and issued a validation code for job seekers.

Manitoba’s EOI system

People who want to immigrate through Manitoba ‘s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) need to register with the MPNP an Expression of Interest to obtain a LAA through Manitoba’s Skilled Workers and Overseas Skilled Workers sources.

Such applicants are graded out of 1,000 points under Manitoba ‘s scheme for human capital characteristics such as their English or French language skills, education, work, job experience, Manitoba ties and other considerations.
